Starting or building a successful business is not a child’s play. As many businesses are operational in the globe. You will be passing a message to all the businesses in your community or country or the world at large, a message loud enough to everyone that you are ready to compete in the market.

Sadly, to say, not all the businesses thriving in the first years of their establishment last, some do not take more than two years. While some did not even attain any of the goals set for success.

The general reason for such a case is the ignorance of building a business in the right way.

Just so you know, your definition of a successful business is different to another person. The level of a business’ success depends on the owner of the business itself, and not you as its owner knows what he or she is actually targeting.

I should make it clear to you that a business owner could see success in his business when his or her product or service is dominating his or her community. Another business owner could see success in his or her business when the product or service is notable outside his or community. In other words, these two business owners built a successful business. As their envisioned goal of their businesses had been accomplished.

We can deduce that, what makes your business a success is when it accomplishes your envisioned goals or objectives for it. However, most people only believe that finance determines if the business is successful or not without considering the goals of the business itself since all businesses are centred around making financial gains (profit). In actuality, the two elements determine the success of a business.

We should bear in mind that there are things such as attributes that make building a successful business achievable.

➡️Available to take risks:

Risks are involved in building businesses, in actual sense, risk is involved in everything such as investing in building a business from scratch, the higher the risk, the higher the returns from it. The lower the risks, the lower the returns from it.

Your business must be available to take those bold steps that I call “leap of faith” in order to attain success faster than the other businesses that are not available to take risks. Casting away fear makes you bold and it influences your business in a good way to take steps others are afraid to take, while taking the steps analytically. Leaving comfortability to sit on a hot seat is what the business needs most times to move. When it goes the way you want and if it does not go the way you want, you learn the amending actions and approaches to continue to exist even after failing.

➡️Perseverance:

The business must be able to continue to exist even after the hardships it faces, to make sure it accomplishes its envisioned goals. As taking risks is beautiful and ugly, it can take a business up or down. Setbacks are part of the stumbling blocks and bracing for those moments, and including such contingencies in the plan. The perseverance of the business keeps it through those moments while working harder to scale through as “success” is the goal.

Every business that wants to thrive, must offer what is different from other businesses around. Something that can captivate customers. Something distinctive about your business that makes it special to your customers, making your business outstanding. To enjoy more patronage. Customers are attracted mostly by lower prices of goods and services.

➡️Friendly Customer Service:

Whenever you look at a baby with a scary face, the baby starts crying. The world loves friendliness and they feel comfortable with a friendly smile on the face of the people around them. Your business is not to be scary or uncomfortable for your customers, they are the centre of the business and without them, the business cannot continue.

Being friendly with your customers goes a long way for your business. Customers find it easy to get goods and services from you, they will promote the business to another potential customer. Your focus on your customers should be to make them comfortable with your business by making sure that they are satisfied with your business.

Keeping the vision of the business unshakable, guarantees the focus and strength of the business to be in equilibrium. It assures consistency. And, there has to be short-term and long-term goals and objectives for every staff in both the low and high level, and they all work together to accomplish the goals.

➡️Marketing and Diversity:

Businesses suffer without a strategy in place for either of these two elements. Keeping the strategies in place for marketing business, and keeping an eye on the activities in the market analysis to know where to reach into and start investing in. By being serious with it, and seeking professional advice as well.

There are elements such as training employees to handle the roles you need them to function in. Making sure that the business is ready to show its flexibility when it comes to trends, and shifts in technology. You must assume the leadership role as the business owner.

There are some skills to learn that help in building a successful business such as the skills you need to grow your business by being patient and good with bringing people together to form a team, networking and communication which is possible if you build a good relationship with people and making use of any given opportunity to your advantage, discipline, analytical reasoning by acquiring more knowledge, and commitment to the business and its envisioned goals and objectives.

It has been a journey, and I believe it was worth it. All the answers have been given but we are not going to stop here. However, this is where the “pens up” comes in for the time being.
